How To Join

Dear fellow Biddeford-Saco independent business owner,

As Biddeford-Saco business owners, we believe our new Biddeford-Saco Buy Local Campaign is critical to our community of locally-owned independent businesses. As many of you know, locally-owned independent businesses contribute far more to our communities than chain and national franchise operations. We believe we are an important component in making our communities unique and strong.

The Biddeford-Saco Buy Local Campaign is a collaboration between the Biddeford-Saco Area Economic Development Corporation, the Biddeford-Saco Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Heart of Biddeford and Saco Spirit. The purpose of this project is to develop and execute a marketing program with the goal of helping all of the locally-owned independent businesses in the communities of Biddeford and Saco prosper.

Our goals are simple but require a unified force and message:

Make locally owned something that everyone considers when making the purchase of goods or services, including other businesses, tourists and our local citizens.
Educate the public as to the financial rewards of supporting locally-owned businesses; more money stays in our community, our local economy grows, our tax base gets stronger and people have a chance to live out their dreams of owning a business.
Help you market your company through our collective brand as locally owned and independent and to highlight the excellent variety of locally-owned businesses in our area.

Here are some things you can do to support our campaign:

Contact other local businesses you have relationships with and ask them to join. We are including a few extra welcome packets for you to pass along.

Spread the word with your customers, clients, family and friends. Included in your packet is a brochure we would ask you to display/hand out and a window decal.

We believe that with your support we can all benefit from our Biddeford-Saco Buy Local Campaign. The stakes have never been greater and now is the time to unify our message.

AUTHORIZATION TO USE THE BIDDEFORD-SACO
BUY LOCAL LOGO AND NAME

Eligibility. Only businesses who are registered participants of BSBL are eligible to use the Biddeford-Saco Buy Local logo or name.

Permission to use. BSBL allows its members a limited, non exclusive, non assignable,
and non transferable license to use the BIDDEFORD-SACO BUY LOCAL: LIVE LOCAL, BE LOCAL, BUY LOCAL logo only as prescribed. Licensee agrees that Licensee will not otherwise use, copy, reproduce or alter the Logo in any manner. Nothing in this Agreement, or in Licensee’s use of these marks may be construed as granting Licensee any right whatsoever in the Logo or in a similar logo beyond the right granted in this agreement. Biddeford-Saco Buy Local may rescind this License at any time that Biddeford-Saco Buy Local, in its sole discretion, determines that the Licensee is misusing the Logo.

Mandatory usage. Licensee is required to place the BSBL door decal on a prominent door or window

Advertising use. Licensee is encouraged to display the Logo without alteration in the formats provided. Licensee is permitted to use the Logo in documents, websites, signs and advertisements pertaining only to the Biddeford-Saco Buy Local Campaign.

Selling. Licensee is permitted to use the Logo to promote business in various creative promotional uses
but may not use the Logo on any merchandise intended for re-sale (including cards, magnets, t-shirts,
mugs, etc.)

Indemnification. Licensee agrees to indemnify fully and hold Biddeford-Saco Buy Local harmless
against any loss, damage or expense arising out of any misuse of the Logo or of any violation of the
terms and conditions of this agreement. Licensee also agrees to indemnify fully and hold Biddeford-Saco Buy Local harmless against any loss, damage or expense including reasonable attorney’s fees with
respect to all third party claims of any kind including product liability arising in connection with its product(s), event(s) or service(s).

Relationship of Parties. Licensee is not, and will not represent itself as an agent, representative, partner, joint venture or employee of Biddeford-Saco Buy Local nor can Licensee bind, obligate or represent
that it has any authority to bind or obligate Biddeford-Saco Buy Local in any manner or in any thing. Specifically, nothing contained herein shall be construed to create any such employer employee, joint venture, agency or partnership between the parties.

Nothing in this Agreement or in Licensee’s use of the Logo shall confer any endorsement or approval of Licensee’s product(s), event(s), or service(s). Licensee’s use of the Logo is intended only to convey coordination with the Biddeford-Saco Buy Local Campaign for purposes of furthering the campaign’s objectives.
